Jim Gaffigan

Normally, I wouldn't describe myself as the type who is a fan of someone. However, Jim Gaffigan was always an exception for me. Every year, I repeat all his specials from old to new and couldn't wait to see him live now. Although the show had a strong comedian introduction, this quickly changed when Jim came on stage around 20:15. The subjects of his jokes were anything but funny. Topics recycled from his previous shows, adolescent humor such as a far too long piece about diarrhea and information that was only shared for shock value without a joke. He stood there without energy, stumbled over his own words and the awkward silences made it a lousy show. Paid almost €50 per ticket, even though he cut the show off after 45 minutes and it was over. Around 21:00, we walked out almost amazed. We drove to Amsterdam for an hour and a half, asked freely to experience this and looked forward to it for months. All of this, to see him perform for 45 minutes. See myself as someone who isn't easily a fan of someone, and Jim is no longer the exception either.
