With some extra nerves after some traffic problems from Belgium to Papendrecht with just an old-fashioned map, didn't drive a GPS straight to our goal and park in front of the door.And with still time for a glass of wine to get in the mood. Full of anticipation, I entered a moody, not too big theater. This felt like the ideal place for me to hear the music from the 3Js live. Decor, positioning on stage and even the color of Jan Dulles's coat, especially the reference to Christmas's childhood memories, have completely taken me away. The songs, the variety, the shared anecdotes only deepened that warm feeling.But the absolute top is really the musicality of this band: that incredibly warm and deep voice of Jan Dulles, who never fails to sing even in the high or low registers sounds loud, that beautiful and sometimes virtuoso guitar playing by Jaap Kwakman and the coordinated ensemble and singing with Jan De Witte supported by the versatile pianist and bassist!!!!! I just regret that apparently no DVD of this is coming out and that due to the distance, I won't get to one of the next concerts either. Just hope and pray that there will be a repeat next year. And in the meantime, I'm already looking forward to my planned other 3Js concerts. Met wat extra zenuwen na wat verkeersperikelen vanuit Belgi naar Papendrecht met enkel een ouderwetse kaart geen GPS recht op ons doel af gereden en voor de deur kunnen parkeren.En met nog tijd voor een glaasje wijn om nog meer in de stemming te komen.Vol verwachting binnen in een stemmig niet al te grote theaterzaal. Dit voelde voor mij de ideale plek om de muziek van de 3Js live te horen. Decor, positionering op het podium en zelfs de kleur van de jas van Jan Dulles en dan alzeker de verwijzing naar de kinderherinneringen van kerst hebben mij helemaal meegenomen.De liedjes, de afwisseling, de gedeelde anekdotes verdiepten alleen nog dat warme gevoel.Maar de absolute top is echt wel de muzikaliteit van deze band: die ongelooflijke warme en diepe stem van Jan Dulles, die zelfs in de hoge of de lage registers altijd blijft zingen en nooit schreeuwerig klinkt, dat prachtige en soms virtuoze gitaarspel van Jaap Kwakman en het op elkaar afgestemde samenspel en samenzang met Jan De Witte ondersteund door de veelzijdige pianist en de bassist!!!!!Heb alleen spijt dat er blijkbaar geen DVD hiervan uitkomt en dat ik door de afstan ook niet meer bij een van de nog volgende concerten geraak. Hoop en bid alleen dat er volgend jaar een herhaling komt. En ik zie intussen zelf al uit naar mijn geplande andere 3Js concerten.

The 3Js performance in Haarlem got us in the Christmas mood. It was cozy, the gentlemen were musical in all areas and there was a lot of interaction with the audience, in short, it met expectations.
